Education

Florida offers many choices for education, like:

  • Traditional public schools
    • Specialized day schools
    • Regular schools, with a range of classroom inclusion options
  • Nontraditional public schools
    • Charter schools
    • Virtual schools
  • Private schools
  • Homeschool

Another alternative for care during the day is Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) services.

Differences in legal requirements and funding mean that school types aren’t the same in:

  • the amount of specialized services they usually offer for a child who suffered a birth injury and
  • the requirements for an educational program to have to meet them.

Also, the number and type of schools differ depending on where you live. In some places there are lots of different schools available, and in other areas, not as many.

The State of Florida has created some ways for families to get funding through scholarships for private schools and homeschool support.
